We are thrilled to offer 3 delicious options of local Tempeh from our partner By The Brook. We are always looking for more well-made vegan/vegetarian protien options to round out our offering, and BTB is the perfect fit.
Tempeh is full of protein & fiber, and BTB has a vast library of great recipes to try here. The tempeh will be frozen, and should be consumed within 4-6 months. Once thawed, keep your tempeh refrigerated, and consume within 5 days. Note: do not eat tempeh raw.
Because tempeh is a live product (the fermentation process has not been artificially halted), you’ll notice that over time it may begin to sour, which in many cases becomes the preference for taste. It might also change a bit in color, becoming yellower or developing black spots. The latter is called sporulation, which means the Rhizopus mold has created spores, which are safe for consumption. If the tempeh has gotten slimy or smells off, please discard.
